13 Easy & Chic Athleisure Outfits You’ll Want To Wear All The Time

Athleisure has never been so chic as it is now in 2021. I just love how sporty and comfy outfits have become our casual, everyday staples. We don’t need to feel uncomfortable in order to look stylish anymore, and that’s amazing news!

So how do you pull off athleisure style, looking like you’re on your way to the gym in full glam? It’s all about mixing your favorite workout clothes – biker shorts, leggings, sports bras, sweatshirts, sweatpants, and of course, white sneakers – with expensive-looking on-trend accessories such as fine jewelry, vegan handbags, cool sunglasses, or anything that adds a little personality to your look!

Check out these athleisure outfit ideas to copy when you’re in need of something easy, chic, and extra comfortable!

1. Biker Shorts + Oversized White Shirt

At this point, both of these items are probably everyday staples in your wardrobe. But have you ever thought of mixing them together? I bet when you think of athleisure wear, a crisp, white shirt isn’t the first item that pops into your mind. But in reality, a shirt that’s perfectly oversized is a foolproof way of making your outfit look more put-together in a super effortless way!

2. Pop Of Color

The most common colors in athleisure outfits are black, white, and grey. Adding a colorful handbag or some other accessory can make your outfit look more visually interesting.

3. Matching Sets

Matching activewear sets are so cute we decided we should be also wearing them outside the gym. And it’s literally the easiest way to get dressed for a casual day. Just add your favorite accessories and you’re ready to take on the world.

4. Sweatshirt + Sweatshorts

Instead of wearing sweatpants and a T-shirt, try switching it up next time! Long sleeves on the top and shorts on the bottom. Perfect for cozy transitional weather!

5. Wide Leg Sweatpants

Ladies and gentlemen, let me indtoduce you to the ultimate athleisure item: the wide leg sweat pants. Sweat pants material, a comfy fit, and a trendy, everyday silhouette are combined in these flared pants. There’s nothing not to love about them.

6. Be Bold

Athleisure is usually all about black, grey, and white. Well, not anymore… How about expressing some of your personality by adding vibrant colors? What is your best color?

7. Sportswear + Fine Jewelry

In fashion we like contrast. It’s an amazing (and super easy) way to make your outfits stand out and look more interesting. And there’s not a bigger contrast than activewear matched with layers of fine jewelry. One is intented for sweating your heart out and the other, well, for quite the opposite. Together they balace each other out perfectly!

8. Bucket Hat

We just can’t get enough of bucket hats right now! Complement basically any athleisure outfit with a bucket hat, and I guarantee it’ll make you look even cooler!

9. Matchy Matchy

Does your sister, BFF, or even your SO has a similar stlye as you do? How amazing! You should definitely co-ordinte your outfits to match each other! You’re going to look twice as stylish!

10. Warmer Layers

If you think athleisure is only for spring and summer, think again! Just keep layering sporty and casual items on top of each other for a balanced athleisure outfit for fall and beyond!

Shop the look (or DON’T)

Now that you’ve looked at all these pretty inspo images and decided you want to live the rest of your life in athleisure outfits, your first instinct probably tells you NEED TO shop for some new clothes. But do you, really?

Let’s take a step back and explore some alternative ways to recreate these outfits without the impulse purchases you might end up regretting later!

  • Shop your wardrobe first: the most sustainable (and cheapest!) clothes are the ones you already own. Is there a long-forgotten item in there you could use to recreate these outfits instead of buying something new? Who knows, maybe you’ll fall back in love with that old item again. Fashion is cyclical after all!
  • Upcycle: could you give a new life to one of your old pieces of clothing? You can easily learn to modernize your new old clothes by watching a few YouTube tutorials!
  • Borrow or swap: does one of your friends or anyone in your family already own something you’d like to have but they never wear it? Why not just ask to borrow it, or offer to swap for something of yours?
  • Rent: not sure you want to commit to a specific item or a style for the long term? You can easily figure it out by renting it first! With clothing rental subscriptions at Nuuly or Rent the Runway, you can switch up your style each month without purchasing a single thing! But if you fall in love with something, you can always decide to buy it for keeps.
  • Shop second-hand: buying second-hand is more sustainable and cheaper than buying new. Try Vestiaire Collective, our current favorite online pre-loved fashion marketplace, or check out this post: The 30 Best Online Thrift Stores, Vintage Shops & Second-Hand Marketplaces
