Pretty Planeteers of the Month October 2019

Hello Pretty Planeteers, welcome to this new blog post series!

In October we started building our little community on Instagram. The goal of this Instagram account is to keep people inspired and educate them about sustainable fashion. We share our blog content, inspiring quotes about ethical fashion, and your sustainable outfits of the day. We love that so many of you are starting to share your post with the community. I’m not 100% sure where we’re heading with this new platform, but I’m certain that it’s going to be awesome. For now, we’re trying to provide your daily dose of sustainable style inspiration and bits of knowledge you might find interesting.

This new monthly series is my way of saying thank you to all of the amazing people who decide to be a part of this squad. I want you to remember that what you’re doing is important and that you’re making a difference in the world. You are the Planeteers we need right now!

Each month we’re going to choose our 5 favorite posts you shared with the community using our hashtag #theprettyplaneteer. There’s going to be one Planeteer in each category:

  • Earth – Most sustainable outfit of the month
  • Fire – Prettiest outfit of the month
  • Wind – Best topic/caption of the month
  • Water – Changes every month
  • Heart – Crush of the month

I hope you’re going to enjoy this little game as much as I enjoy shouting you out. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun!

So let’s cut to the chase and discover the Pretty Planeteers of this month!

Earth: @withfairflair – Most Sustainable Outfit of the Month

Martina from With Fair Flair is sneaking a little sunshine into our cold autumn days with this throwback summer outfit. Everything she’s wearing is either borrowed or second hand, so it couldn’t really get any sustainable than this.

Martina has a great style and a beautifully edited Instagram feed where she writes about sustainable + ethical everything.

Fire: @lindseygoodfor – Prettiest Outfit of the Month

View this post on Instagram

I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it✨ And I wear it over and over again. When I buy something new, either clothes or something else, I always think about it for a couple of days/weeks before I buy it. Does this item fullfill my needs? Is it something I was really looking for? Is it sustainably and or fair made? Am I going to use/wear this item for the upcoming years? If I can answer ‘yes’ at at least two questions, I will buy it. This is how I shop the last couple of years. What kind of shopper are you? An impulsive one or a thinker? Outfit: Top: vintage via @byhendrikus Jeans: secondhand @everlane Bag: @myomydogoods (fair and sustainable) Shoes: three years old from @dune_london (not fair or sustainable) #conscious #consciouslifestyle #consciousfashion #sustainablefashion #sustainability #sustainable #sustainablefashionblogger #fairfashion #slowfashion #slowliving #slowlifestyle #slowfashionblogger #slowfashionstyle #ecofashion #ecolifestyle #parisienne #parisianstyle #theparisguru #fashion #fblogger #fashioninspo #fashioninspiration

Wind: @maman_thrifter – Best Topic/Caption of the Month

In this post, Rebekah from @maman_thrifter talks about overconsumption, especially when shopping second hand:

“Let’s talk about over consumption even when your thrifting or shopping second hand.
This is definitely something I struggle with! It’s easy to grab something that’s a few dollars and try to make it work in your wardrobe, but is it really helping solve the problem?
Please tell me I’m not alone 🙌 I would never want to make you guys feel bad ! Just looking for advice and possible tips that keep you on track when your shopping. .
Since I cleaned out my closet over the weekend and realized I’m a hoarder! Which I kind of already knew 😂 I’ve decided to make a valid effort to only try to buy things I actually need, even if its second hand.”

It is definitely an issue most of us can relate to. Thank you, Rebekah, for bringing this topic up and making us reflect a bit on our shopping habits!

Water: @dissanca – Most Artistic Post of the Month

What an amazing conceptual photo of Dissanca rising from the mud wearing her ethical, sustainable, and vegan MUD jeans! It’s a great brand recommendation,  aligned with a beautifully captured image and a sustainable message!

“We have the ability to rise from the mud, bloom out of the darkness and radiate into the world.”

If you like chic black and white style (I mean, who doesn’t?) follow Dissanca on Instagram @dissanca!

Heart: @alisa.koz – Crush of the Month

I don’t even know where to start… Alisa is fantastic! She’s my closest Instagram friend and she has been a great source of emotional support for me on this sustainable blogging journey. So thanks, Alisa, for helping me, believing in me, and encouraging me, it really means a lot!

I also love everything she posts on her Instagram and on her blog (by the way, she also interviewed me if you want to check that out!). Alisa has a great sense of aesthetics and she’s full of cool sustainable fashion and zero waste tips and tricks!

So definitely follow her on Instagram @alisa.koz and check out her personal blog!

We’re the Planeteers,
You can be one too!
‘Cause saving our planet is the thing to do,
Looting and polluting is not the way,
Hear what Captain Planet has to say:
